about

For our 9th release, we welcome Tano to the roster, accompanied by remixes from Toumba & Delay Grounds. Having all embarked on making music around the same time and connecting through sharing said music, it felt only fitting to bring them together for this release.

Drawing inspiration from Room 2 at Freerotation, Tano’s “10-11 EP” channels a slow-burning energy and gradually intensifies into an exhilarating frenzy. The EP's title track sets the stage with meticulously crafted subs and kicks, building anticipation for the explosive main bass hook. The driving drums and metallic guttural utterings heighten the sense of apocalyptic drama that unfolds throughout. Take heed, this one is primed and ready for the system!

Toumba masterfully takes the essence of "10-11" and flips it on its head while preserving the raw, untamed energy of the original. Clocking in at 90 BPM, the remix maintains a steady canter, employing syncopated and percussive rhythms, along with rolling and bubbling sub-bass stabs. Elements from the source material are flawlessly incorporated, showcasing Toumba's distinctive style and exceptional ear for intricate drum patterns, all leading towards an inevitable pressure release.

In "Blend Of Poetry," Tano showcases his prowess for crafting off-kilter basslines and captivating synth melodies. Originally intended as a B-side for "10-11," this track stands confidently on its own. It weaves together a barrage of rapid fire percussion, languid and hypnotic sub-bass and gripping atmospheric elements, resulting in a compelling and electrifying late-night joyride.

Delay Grounds' remix of "Blend of Poetry" closes out the EP, taking it to new stratospheric heights. Elemental staccato synths hover above expertly balanced drums and bass, reaching a fever pitch of ecstatic euphoria. Through the subtle introduction of airy percussion, the track culminates in a classic, tranced-out breakdown adorned with bright luminescent horns and pulsating sub-bass.

As bonus tracks to this full EP we have included two mixes, recorded by Tano and Lewis Lowe, respectively. These mixes are an accompaniment that act as an alternative physical release, designed to be listened to whilst outdoors Walking or Running along specific maps in Glasgow and New York. Initially we had kept them as a secret addition to the download, but it feels like a good time to make this concept public and give folks a chance to revisit the release. Whether you can walk or run these routes is ultimately inconsequential, the music is there to be listened to.

WALKING -
A mix made by Lewis Lowe, for walking. Based on a route through Glasgow starting at the Necropolis and ending at Cunigar Loop. The path threads through the Barras Market, you're encouraged to walk in and around the stalls on the weekend. A soundtrack developed over long periods of walking alone around Glasgow, interspersed with moments in nature and the congestion of the city alike.

Map included for those who want to retrace Lewis' steps.

RUNNING -
A mix made by Tano, for Running. 10km skirting the East River and Williamsburg Bridge in New York. Whilst training for his first marathon Tano ran around New York City, a busy and hectic training schedule interspersed with trips to Puerto Rico and Europe. Leading to this mix following a similar sonic journey of pace, rigid routine and boundary pushing. Run, workout, meditate, ruminate whilst you listen, to be interpreted however you want and feel.
